Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy - Showtime Swatch & Review

2 coats of Revlon Showtime, with 1 coat of Revlon Holographic Pearls sandwiched in between + 2 coats of top coat

Revlon Colorstay Showtime is a purple polish with blue and purple shimmer dispersed through the bottle. The bottle holds 11.7ml of polish. I was so excited when I saw this polish online and couldn't wait to try it. Boy did it turn out to be a disappointment.

Shade
A royal purple base with two different colours of gorgeous shimmers in it, what's not to like, right? Wrong! On the nail, this colour looks so flat and the purple overpowers the shimmers, it's almost like wearing a polish that's gone bad.  All of the gorgeousness in the bottle just vanishes once it's on the nail.

As a last ditch effort to salvage this polish, I applied one coat of Showtime + 1 coat of Revlon's Holographic Pears + 1 medium coat of Showtime again. In hindsight, I should have reversed the order and layered Holographic pearls with a thinner coat of Showtime, which would allow more of that holographic gorgeousness to shine through.

Formula and Application

This polish is quite sheer, almost jelly like and you would need three medium coats for full opacity or you could layer it over a black polish as well. Even though the polish is thin in consistency, it's not runny. It doesn't pool or flood the cuticles and is quite easy to apply.

Drying time is pretty good, but it dries with a very uneven texture and absolutely no shine. So much for the gel finish claim. You would need two coats of a thick top coat to even it all out. I used 1 coat of Seche Vite + 1 coat of Nykaa top coat.

The polish is a tad difficult to remove, so I'd suggest using a peel of base coat underneath.

Longevity
This polish has a tendency to chip on my nails, possibly because of its formula and the fact that you've to apply three medium coats for full opacity. No points here.

Final Thoughts
As much as I love purple and shimmery polishes, this one was an absolute disappointment. I wonder if I got a bottle from a bad batch or something. I would really recommend trying it out in a store if you plan on purchasing it at all.
